An Art Inspiring weekend!

It's been a while since I went out to meet a friend and go somewhere different, so when an arty friend asked if I interested in going to the London Art Fair at the Islington Design Centre... I thought, "why not?".

The week before, I had been run down with a flu-ey virus and wondered if I would be ok to go but a couple of days before, the virus abated and I was really looking forward to going. So Saturday dawned bright and clear and I was up and ready to view the Modern British and Contemporary Art on display!

It was a very very inspiring trip... instead of just staying a few hours (as I thought ...this is usually the case when going to such an exhibition or gallery!), my friend and I spent the whole day admiring the amazing works, laughing to our sides hurt and being agog and some of the prices of the art!

Maybe it was the *fantastic* company, maybe it was the overload of ideas that rushed around my head from seeing so many interesting pieces... but either way I went back the next day too!

December Inspiration!

Yes I know Christmas is less than a month away (how did that happen?!) and I have tons to do before the big day, but I have been surfing around looking for Inspiration for Art.

You know the kinda thing, an image that will kickstart a page or a piece... and I found this great image:-



I love the colours and there was just something about this image that resonated with me...so I'm off the play for a while and see what comes up!

All Hallows Eve...

...is just around the corner.

I love Halloween... well I guess I more love the imagery associated with Halloween rather than the practice of detting dressed up and knocking on people's door for sweets!

We used to get lots of kids down our road, one year we got over 50! But last year the road was quiet... I don't remember anyone knocking. Sign of the times I guess.

So to get into the spooky spirit, I've been looking for some Halloween Inspration for my art... now there are tons of great spooky images of Jack-0-Laterns and witches etc on t'net but I prefer something a little more obscure... and I found this:-

Now I *love* masks of all sorts... and have seen this Vendetta mask before and loved it, but in this image the background really adds to the picture of someone wearing the mask...what is the tree in the background? Where does the teal colour come from? I find it interesting... so hope to use it as inspiration in the new few days leading up to All Hallows Eve!
